Padre Island National Seashore
Bird Island Basin is a popular spot for boaters to access the Laguna Madre. The area is one of the most popular locations in the country for windsurfing and also offers opportunities for kayaking, birding, and fishing.
Visitors who wish to launch a boat from the Bird Island Basin Boat Ramp at Padre Island National Seashore must purchase a boat ramp pass.
Padre Island also charges an entrance fee separate from the boat ramp pass fee. You may pay this fee upon arrival or purchase in advance. The park also honors valid America the Beautiful-the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands passes (also known as an interagency passes, e.g., Senior, 4th Grade, Military, etc.).
